Special Snow Change

Last night we had our first big snow storm, but in our household Snow came early this year. Last Friday, Liz was invited to move up from Dew Drop Fairy to Snow Queen for Nutcracker!!  How exciting! It makes her in a partnered part which is a first for Liz and also a petit pas which is really exciting because it is one step down from the top spot of Sugar Plum Fairy which has a grand pas.  Congratulations Liz!  We look forward to seeing you in December.

Proudly Support the Pink

Mammograms and self exams are all so important, but there is also the point to support those already with breast cancer.

At the beginning of this month, I thought it didn't really apply to me.  But now the issue has hit home hard. My Grandma, 85, just found out she has inflammatory breast cancer. Never heard of it? Not a surprise, only 1-3% of breast cancers are this type. It was actually initially discovered because of a tumor on her brain effecting her right side mobilization. About the time of the surgery, she found a lump in her breast. In the next three weeks it went from approximately 1 inch to 4 inches. She could tell the growth. By the time they had her diagnosed and into the right doctors, which actually happened rather quickly, it was too large to operate on because there is not enough skin left over to provide a skin graft. Chemotherapy and radiation are the only options left open to her. She is stage IV, meaning that tumors have already started to spread. My grandma doesn't know as of yesterday what she was going to do,  but decisions will be made quickly and the fact of the matter is this will take her. She is amazingly upbeat knowing she has had a wonderful life and when she does die, she will have her sweetheart on the other side.

Cancer touches all of us.

BHS Homecoming

Bountiful High's Homecoming was Saturday, October 2.  It started with a great homecoming game Friday where Bountiful beat undefeated East, 21-0. YEAH! The Braves even had fireworks!

Saturday, with the LDS General Conference, made Homemaking a new experience. Her date, Eric Kovacs, a friend of hers - AP friend and football player - picked her up in a casual outfit for dinner at Alvey's with a total of 10 couples. Lasagna and garlic bread later, they took some pictures and dropped off the girls in time for Priesthood session and time for the girls to get ready (2 hours is about right). Liz looked gorgeous in a blue taffita dress with sequins and black short sweater and sash. It was made by her Grandma Billings and Me (I just did sequins).

Eric came and picked her up, his tie matched her dress exactly - amazing. They went to the dance and had fun, then afterward had pie and talked and made it home before too late.  The dance was the big success, and Eric and Liz are still great friends.
